Logo New Jersey DevilsNewark, NJ. (PM) The New Jersey Devils today signed forward Michael Ryder. The announcement was made by Devils’ President/CEO/General Manager Lou Lamoriello. As per club policy, no further terms were disclosed. Ryder, 33, will enter his tenth NHL season and 14th year as a pro. He split 2012-13 between Dallas and Montreal, scoring 16 goals and 19 assists for 35 points and 16 penalty minutes in 46 appearances. The 6-0, 200-lb. winger also appeared in five games during the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs. He was re-acquired by the Canadiens on February 26, after one-plus years with the Stars. Ryder has career totals of 213 goals and 218 assists for 431 points and 305 penalty minutes in 677 regular-season games with Montreal, Boston and Dallas. He was a member of the Bruins’ 2011 Stanley Cup
Championship team, and has appeared in 75 career playoff games, notching 21 goals and 24 assists for 45 points. Born March 31, 1980 in Bonavista, Nfld., he has appeared in
all 82 games on three occasions. He was named to the NHL’s All-Rookie Team in 2003-04, when he posted a career-high 63 points to lead all first-year players. Ryder was Montreal’s ninth choice (8th round), and 216th overall selection in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He played three seasons of junior hockey with Hull (QMJHL), and represented Bronze Medal-winning Team Canada at the 2000 World Junior Championship.
