Blues sign Forward Derek Roy

St. Louis. (PM) St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has signed forward Derek Roy to a one-year contract.
Roy, 30, split last season between Dallas and Vancouver, posting 22 points (4 goals, 18 assists) and four penalty minutes in 30 games with the Stars while recording six points (three goals, three assists) and two penalty minutes in 12 games with the Canucks. In addition, Roy appeared in four postseason games with Vancouver, tallying one assist and two penalty minutes.
Overall, the 5’9, 184-pound forward has appeared in nine National Hockey League (NHL) seasons including stints with Buffalo (2003-2012), Dallas (2013) and Vancouver (2013). Roy has totaled 455 points (168 goals, 287 assists) and 337 penalty minutes in 591 career regular season games while his postseason career has yielded 26 points (seven goals, 19 assists) and 36 penalty minutes in 45 games.
The Ottawa, Ontario native was originally drafted by Buffalo in the second round, 32nd overall, of the 2001 Entry Draft.
